Celebrating Nearly One Year of Partnership with Rabies Free Africa
May 4, 2026

Glenwood Village Pet Hospital is proud to celebrate nearly one year of partnership with Rabies Free Africa (RFA). Since launching this initiative in summer 2025, we have contributed $975 to support this life saving mission, made possible entirely through the generosity of our clients.

For every rabies vaccine administered at our hospital, $1 is automatically donated to RFA, helping fund efforts to eliminate rabies in underserved communities across Africa. It is a simple action with a meaningful global impact.

Dr. Parr’s Journey to Africa

This September, Dr. Parr will travel to Africa to take part in RFA’s dog vaccination campaigns firsthand. She will work alongside fellow veterinary professionals to vaccinate dogs, learn more about local public health challenges, and witness the direct impact of these efforts on both animals and the communities they live in.

This experience represents an exciting extension of our hospital’s commitment to rabies prevention, and Dr. Parr is honored to support this important work on the ground.

Why This Work Matters

Rabies is a preventable disease that continues to claim thousands of lives each year, primarily in regions where access to vaccines and education is limited. The need for continued action is clear:

· An estimated 60,000 people die from rabies annually

· 99 percent of cases occur in Africa and Asia

· Nearly half of those affected are children under the age of 16

· Once symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal, but it is 100 percent preventable through vaccination

Programs like Rabies Free Africa are making measurable progress. With more than 2.5 million vaccine doses administered, these efforts have helped save an estimated 750 lives and achieve zero human rabies deaths in key vaccination zones.

Making an Impact Together

Every rabies vaccine you choose for your pet helps protect not only your own community, but also families and animals around the world. Together, we are contributing to the global goal of eliminating dog mediated human rabies deaths by 2030.

Glenwood Village Pet Hospital is honored to play a small role in this mission, and we are incredibly grateful to our clients for making it possible. Your commitment to your pet’s health is helping create a safer, healthier future both locally and globally.
